# Quickstart for managers

> See where your team is, clear your approvals queue, and pull a team attendance report.

As a manager you have two jobs in OnTime: knowing where your team is right now, and not being the reason a request sits unanswered. Both live in the manager app.

Open `https://app.ontime.hosai.app/manager` on your phone and sign in with your normal OnTime credentials — there is no separate manager login.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Check Team Today">
    The **Team** tab opens on today. A stat strip counts who is in, late, absent and on leave; below it, a **Needs attention** list surfaces the people worth looking at first — someone late, or someone who normally punches by now and hasn't.

    Tap a person to open their detail: where they are right now, when they punched, how long they have been in, and their week so far. From there you can message them or open their full profile.

    A **map** view plots reports whose punch today carried GPS coordinates. People without location data today are listed separately rather than guessed onto the map.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Clear your approvals queue">
    The **Approvals** tab is one queue holding three kinds of request from your direct reports:

    | Kind | What you are deciding |
    | ------------------ | --------------------------------------------------- |
    | **Leave** | Whether someone can be away on those dates. |
    | **Regularization** | Whether a claimed attendance correction is genuine. |
    | **Overtime** | Whether extra hours worked should be credited. |

    Open a request to decide with context rather than from the list. A leave request shows the balance the employee would be left with, how many others on the team are already off on those dates, a suggested backup, and their pattern of taking that leave type this quarter.

    Approving or rejecting takes an optional note, which the employee sees.

    <Note>
      You can only act on your **direct reports**. Somebody two levels down is HR's to decide, not yours.
    </Note>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pull a report">
    The **Reports** tab gives your team's attendance percentage for a period, a trend against the previous one, and breakdowns — late arrivals, absences, overtime hours, average hours worked. **Export** downloads the same data as CSV.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Use your own self-service">
    The **Me** tab is your own employee record: your punches, your leave, your payslips. A manager is an employee too, and your own leave request goes to *your* manager, not to yourself.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  You cannot approve your own request. If you file leave and also hold approval rights, OnTime refuses the decision — the second pair of eyes is the point.
